The Westport Public Library's annual Winter Book Sale begins March 5 and runs through March 8 in the library's McManus Room located on the Riverwalk Level.

The sale will feature hardcover and trade paperback fiction, mysteries, science fiction and fantasy, thousands of nonfiction and fiction mass-market paperbacks, as well as a selection of children's books for $1 or less.

Also featured in this sale are book club discussion guides on more than 400 titles. Another special is a collection of 50 years of "Playbills," from the 1960s to contemporary productions.

There also will be vinyl records and video tapes on sale, as well as a chance to buy videos that may never make it to DVD format.

Sale hours are Saturday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, March 6, from 1 to 5 p.m.; Monday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., when everything is half-price; and Tuesday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to noon.

, when everything is free (although cash donations are welcome). Visa and MasterCard will be accepted for sales.

Proceeds from the sale, which is run by the Friends of the Westport Library, benefit the library.
