Lauren Weinberger, a Staples High School sophomore who has participated in the American Heart Association's Heart Walk since she was 9 years old, has organized a group of teens for "Listen to the Beat -- A Concert to Benefit the American Heart Association."
The concert will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in Toquet Hall, 58 Post Road East.
Weinberger, whose grandmother passed away from a heart attack at 60 and whose father suffers from heart disease, is working on song selection with the group of 17 students from the towns of Westport, Weston and Fairfield. They will perform Broadway tunes and more modern, teen-friendly hits with piano accompaniment.
Admission is $10 at the door. Advance ticket sales not available. Additional donations are welcome at the event. Join them online at http://heartwalk.kintera.org/fairfieldcounty/listentothebeat.
