Save the Children to honor parting CEO

Save the Children will host a celebration of the work of Charles F. MacCormack, the organization's president and chief executive officer, from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Inn at Longshore, 260 Compo Road South.
The Westport-based agency's supporters will gather to pay tribute to MacCormack as he steps down from his position as president and chief executive officer of Save the Children after 18 years.
Save the Children is a relief organization that helps children in need in the United States and around the world. Save the Children USA is a member of Save the Children International, a global network of 29 independent Save the Children organizations working to ensure the well-being and protection of children in more than 120 countries.
Masters of ceremonies will include Bill Haber, a Save the Children trustee, and Cokie Roberts, journalist for ABC television and National Public Radio. A musical performance will be given by the Fairfield County Children's Choir.
Also in attendance will be Anne Mulcahy, chairwoman of the Save the Children Board of Trustees and former chief executive officer of Xerox Corp.; Connecticut first lady Cathy Malloy; former U.S. Rep. Christoper Shays, and First Selectman Gordon Joseloff.
