Project Return announces new president
As the new president of Project Return, Lorin Klaris will lead the agency as it celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2011.
Klaris served for six years as a board member of Project Return, a nonprofit agency in Westport serving adolescent girls and young women in crisis. She will serve for two years.
"Building awareness and a broader understanding of Project Return are at the forefront of my commitment as president," she said. "Many people are not aware that in addition to supporting adolescent girls who have been victims of abuse and neglect through our residential program, we also support young women who have left the Project Return house, as well as at-risk teen girls living in our local communities. In this complex world, unexpected circumstances and abuse can happen to any young person, and we are here for them."
Klaris, a freelance photographer for the past 20 years, has spent much of her professional life shooting interiors, as well as portraits for magazines, book jackets, and corporate and not-for-profit publications.
She and her husband, Dan Weiss, have been residents of Westport for 22 years. They have three children.
