"The Commedia Princess and the Pea," a slapstick spin on Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale, begins the 2011 Family Festivities Series at the Westport Country Playhouse.

The funny, fast-paced show tells the tale of a lonely prince who wants to find someone to marry, but potential princesses must first get past his mother the queen and her long list of tests. The production is written by Lane Riosley and Rebecca L. Byars and produced by the Tarradiddle Players.

Pre-show activities, for which reservations are required, take place at noon and 3 p.m. Birthday party facilities may be scheduled in advance. Everyone in the audience requires a ticket.
