HEROS benefit set May 25

Fairfield Theatre Co. will host a "We Are HEROS" auction and benefit for the HEROS youth development program at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the theater, 70 Sanford St.
Guests will bid on donated items such as spa coupons, dining vouchers, jewelry, paintings and accessories from around the world. Kakande, a New York-based African music ensemble led by Famoro, an international xylophone virtuoso from Guinea, Africa, will perform at 7:30 p.m.
HEROS, which stands for Higher Education and Responsibility through OverSeas Exchange, is a Bridgeport-based non-profit founded in 2005 by Westport resident Franck Adjisegbe, who serves as its executive director. It holds workshops and community service projects to develop leadership skills in high school students and exposes them to life in remote villages in developing countries to help them appreciate their opportunities as U.S. residents and citizens.
