A free energy seminar to support A Better Chance charity in Westport will be held at Connecticut Closet & Shelf on November 10 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at its showroom, 26 Fitch Street in Norwalk.

Conducted by New England Smart Energy Group of Fairfield, the seminar will describe how an energy assessment of your home can typically save about 20 percent in utility costs, as well as make your home healthier, more comfortable to live in, and have less of an environmental impact. New England Smart Energy (www.ne-smartenergy.com) is a registered `Home Energy Solutions' provider, administered by local utility companies, and funded by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund.

In addition, Connecticut Closet & Shelf has arranged to benefit a local charity, A Better Chance of Westport. Normally, New England Smart Energy charges a co-pay of $75, for which homeowners typically receive up to $700 in products and services paid for by the CEEF. For seminar participants, New England Smart Energy will reduce the co-pay to $50, $25 of which will be donated to ABC. At the time of energy assessment, two checks are due: $25 to ABC of Westport and $25 to New England Smart Energy Group. All donations will receive a tax donation receipt from ABC.

A Better Chance of Westport is a program that selects motivated students of color from educationally disadvantaged areas who demonstrate potential for academic excellence and leadership in life. It offers them the opportunity to live in the Westport community during the school year, attend Staples High School, engage with Westport's residents, and participate in the town's activities.

Light refreshments will be served.
