Cafeteria worker receives Kennedy award
A cafeteria worker at Staples High School recently received the Kennedy Center's Competitive Employee of the Year Award at teh agency's 60th annual awards dinner and annual meeting at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn.
For the past seven years, Peter Bradeen of Westport has been a maintenance worker for the school's cafeteria. The center recognized him as a reliable worker who has developed social skills enabling him to live independently with three roommates. He takes public transportation to and from work and has built working relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
The Kennedy Center is a non-profit rehabilitation organization that serves more than 1,800 people with disabilities annually.
