The Conservative Synagogue in Westport will host its fifth annual University Shabbat, featuring Brandeis University's "Manginah," a co-ed a cappella group, on March 4 and 5. The synagogue is located at 30 Hillspoint Road.

The two-day event begins at 6:15 p.m. March 4 at Shabbat services. Manginah will perform at the service. A Shabbat dinner will follow, as will more music by Manginah.

The evening program coincides with the synagogue's Todah Shabbat honoring its volunteers.

On March 5, services begin at 9:30 a.m. with a Shabbat experience with Manginah. The morning service is designed to include children, with those under 4 years old welcome to participate with an adult. A light kiddush luncheon will follow.

From 6 to 7 p.m. March 5, there will be a reception for Brandeis University alumni, students, parents and others. There also will be a light Shabbat meal, including kosher "Sham Clam Chowdah and Not Legal Seafood." The reception will be followed by a Havdallah service and a concert from 7:15-8:45 p.m., featuring Manginah and the synagogue's chorale.

The events are free and open to the public, although there are fees for the Shabbat dinner and reception. Reservations can be made by calling the synagogue office at 203-454-4673.
