In reviewing his first year as head coach of the Weston boys golf team, John Margolis said, "We had a good year." In fact the Trojan golfers had a great year as they went undefeated in the SWC regular season and finished third in both the SWC and Division III tournaments.

A PGA teaching pro, Margolis joined Weston this year and immediately made an impact. "Last season, we just missed going undefeated so that was a goal for us this year," he said. "And we did it."

Senior captain Jeff Evanier and junior Joe D'Amato led the Trojans. They both earned All-SWC and All-State honors.

Evanier was a mainstay on Weston's Class M playoff basketball team this year and is planning to take his golfing skills to the Division I level this fall. He is in the process of making his decision. and has a number of schools to pick from. He will be working on his game at a golf academy in Florida this summer to prepare for college.

D'Amato comes from a strong golfing family and looks forward to leading his teammates next year.

"We'll be young but strong, with a lot of experience coming up" he said with confidence.

The toughest match Weston had this season was against Joel Barlow where the Trojans pulled it out at the end of the match by a couple of strokes, in the rain and one of the freshman Jared Kapel posting a 41 to seal the undefeated season.
