Seven Staples seniors officially signed their letter of intent Feb. 3 to play their respective sport at the Division I college level.

Four Staples boys soccer players and three football players will be playing their sport at a high level.

Brendan Lesch was the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association's Player of the Year and will be playing for the University of Notre Dame.

Sweeper Sean Gallagher will be playing soccer for Navy and his backfield former teammate Frankie Bergonzi is heading to Hamilton, N.Y. and play for Colgate and their teammate Greg Gudis, who tallied 49 career goals, will strive to bring his scoring touch to Manhattan and play soccer for Columbia University.

From the gridiron, the Wreckers won't have to go far to see two of their top defensive linemen, Chris Coyne and Patrick Murray, who will be playing up Rt. 34 for Yale University.

In order to watch offensive lineman Mike Nicklas play football, the Staples faithful will have to travel to South Carolina where he'll be suiting up for Wofford College.
