Westport's Saugatuck Rowing Club (SRC) has qualified eights boats for this weeks U.S. Youth National Championships, at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge Tennessee.
This is the second largest number of boats qualifying for the Nationals behind Boston's Community Rowing.
The Championship features more than 1,500 athletes from high school and junior rowing programs across the country competing national titles in 18 boat classes.
"We were really happy to have this many boats racing this weekend and is a testament to hard these athletes have trained all year,'' Saugatuck Coach Sharon Kriz said. "The rowing season never really ends it just moves from outside to indoors and then in the spring outdoors again"
