Tony Hwang: Republican, candidate for state Senate 28th District
Name: Tony Hwang
Race: State Senate 28th District
First elected a state senator in 2014, Tony Hwang serves as the ranking member of the committees on housing, higher education, public safety and security, and transportation.
Hwang said he is a licensed Realtor with William Sotheby Real Estate in Fairfield.
“However, since being elected to the state senate representing five uniquely different towns, legislative and constituent work has literally been my full-time job,” he said. “It is a job that I am honored and privileged to have because I am able to help people in our community.”
Hwang previously served as the state representative for the 134th District and, before that, was a member of the Representative Town Meeting. He said he lives in Fairfield with his wife and two children.
If re-elected, Hwang said his legislative priorities would be ensuring public health and safety, as well as economic recovery for individuals and businesses, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. He also said he wanted to focus on balancing the state’s budget and maintaining local input in governance, education, land use and taxation.
