Cal women defeat Colorado to end 3-game slide

BOULDER, Colo. — Kristine Anigwe scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead No. 24 Cal to a 65-53 victory over Colorado on Friday night to snap a three-game losing streak.

Anigwe, the Pac-12 Conference’s No. 2 scorer at 23.3 points a game, scored 25 of her points after halftime. Courtney Range added 10 points, Mikayla Cowling had nine assists, and Penina Davidson contributed a career-high six blocks.

The Bears trailed by as many as 12 points in the second quarter and 34-25 at halftime before rallying. Cal (14-3, 2-3 Pac-12) outscored the Buffaloes 24-12 in the third quarter, including a 19-1 run to start the second half.

Colorado (11-5, 1-4 Pac-12) led from midway through the first quarter until Asha Thomas tied the game with a bucket early in the third.

Anigwe’s jumper put the Bears up 58-48 with five minutes left. The Buffaloes got to 58-53 before Anigwe scored the next four points and Range added a three-pointer. Alexis Robinson scored 18 points, Kennedy Leonard 13 and Haley Smith 10 for Colorado.
