On Thursday, Oct. 4, people all over the country will be packing the doors of their favorite Mexican restaurants to celebrate one of the most famous food holidays; National Taco Day.

Locally, restaurants are gearing up for their own festivities to commemorate the grail of foodie holidays.

Bartaco's Westport and Stamford locations will be hosting their Bartaco-bash, which will culminate in the unveiling of a brand new secret taco.

Many additional local restaurants are getting in the spirit of National Taco Day, including Geronimo's Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill in Fairfield and Tacos Mexico in Norwalk.

Many different Mexican food chains are offering deals to commemorate the day, with one of the more notable offers being the return of Taco Bell's gift set, which includes four premium tacos for $5. The offer also comes with an option to gift the box to a friend, ensuring that the love of tacos never stops.

On the Border is promising one of its best National Taco Day deals this year with the promotion of endless tacos for the price of $8.99. If you can't dine at the restaurant, On the Border is taking 15% off any catering taco buffet over $200 when you use their promo code, "Taco18."

Other chains offering promotions include Moe's and California Tortilla.

Last year, 4.5 billion tacos were eaten around the world, according to the National Taco Day website.
