Three programs to help people looking for jobs will be offered during March at the Westport Public Library.
All three programs, which are free and open to the public will be held in the library's McManus Room.
Michael Shavel of the state Department of Labor will lead an "Advanced Resume Writing Workshop" that will focus on optimizing resumes using keywords, a power profile and accomplishments. The program will take place at 9:30 a.m. March 9. Even though there is no charge for the program, advance registration is required with the labor department. Call Shavel at 203-455-2707 or Mary Malenda at 203-455-2703 to register.
Business librarians Sylvia Schulman and Margie Freilich-Den will help job-seekers how to identify key companies, spot industry trends and get in-depth background information for greater success in networking and interviewing at a workshop, "Energize Your Job Search," on March 16. Informal networking starts at 9:30 a.m., and the seminar begins at 10.
The last of the programs is designed to provide help in identifying and marketing transferrable skills. Laura Powers, of Powers Career Coaching, will conduct an interactive workshop on "Transferrable Skills, the Secret to Success for Career Changers," at 10 a.m. March 30.
