NSI Industries acquires Bridgeport Fitting Inc. in Stratford
Stratford-based Bridgeport Fittings, which makes electrical products, has been acquired by a North Carolina firm.
Electronics provider NSI Industries, which is based in Huntersville, N.C., announced Tuesday that the Stratford manufacturer is the latest addition to its portfolio of companies and product lines. The amount of the transaction was undisclosed.
“We are thrilled that NSI recognizes the formidable strategic value and we are confident NSI will continue to invest and innovate,” said Bridgeport Fittings CEO and co-owner Del Auray in a press release.
For more than nine decades, Bridgeport Fittings has supplied cable and conduit fittings to the industrial, commercial and residential channels of the electrical industry. The Stratford company’s portfolio features more than 2,500 products and 172 patents.
The company’s product lines have been used in the healthcare, hospitality, commercial, retail and residential industry — among others.
The Stratford manufacturer employs roughly 200 people. According to an NSI spokesperson, the acquisition is not expected to affect Bridgeport Fitting’s employee base.
“A lot will be determined over the next 90 days, but we very highly value their U.S. manufacturing footprint, and we really appreciate their legacy and how much value they have to our distribution channel,” said Diane Sabo, Director of Marketing for NSI Industries.
Bridgeport Fittings is expected to continue operating out of Stratford. Executives from both companies are expected to form an “integration team” to evaluate and work with distributor and channel selling partners in coming weeks to determine how best to help use the Bridgeport Fittings.
The Stratford business is the second company to join NSI this year, as part of the North Carolina firm’s plans to expand its footprint and product line nationally. NSI Industries also merged with Platinum Tools in California earlier this year.
“The Bridgeport (Fittings) product portfolio is completely complementary to our electrical solutions and together we have the ability to successfully serve all of our markets with a more comprehensive set of solutions,” said NSI Industries CEO G. R. Schrotenboer in a press release.
