KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) _ Monolithic Power Systems Inc. (MPWR) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $27.6 million.

The Kirkland, Washington-based company said it had net income of 61 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense and pretax expenses, were 99 cents per share.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 99 cents per share.

The chipmaker posted revenue of $153.5 million in the period, missing Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $153.9 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $105.3 million, or $2.36 per share. Revenue was reported as $582.4 million.

For the current quarter ending in April, Monolithic said it expects revenue in the range of $138 million to $144 million.

Monolithic shares have risen 14 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $132, a rise of 20 percent in the last 12 months.
