Macy’s Black Friday rebate to CT: 80 Backstage jobs
As handlers kept their grip on wind-buffeted balloons during the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in Manhattan, the company revealed Connecticut will hold onto a Macy’s Backstage warehouse operation in South Windsor that had been slated for closure.
Macy’s informed the Connecticut Department of Labor of its intent to maintain the logistics operation that employed 80 people at last report, without citing any reason for the reversal. Macy’s had planned to cut jobs in three phases starting in mid-November and extending through this coming February.
The day after notifying DOL last week, Macy’s reported a third-quarter profit of $2 million, down from $62 million a year earlier.
