Darien Shake Shack open for business
The wait is over for Shake Shack in Darien.
After an announcement last year that the “fast casual” burger chain would open after the New Year, the business welcomed its first customers this week, serving its signature burgers, fries and milk shakes at 1340 Post Road.
The developer, Baywater Properties, announced construction had been completed Dec. 12.
“We are so excited to welcome Shake Shack to Darien,” said David Genovese, principal of Baywater Properties, at the time. “Given the number of young families in Darien, we believe that we need more family-friendly restaurants, and Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack is one of New York’s most beloved institutions.”
Shake Shack’s menu is to include deserts specific to Darien, including Darien Cookie Dough — which will feature SoNo Baking Company ginger chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate toffee — and Pie Oh My — a slice of SoNo Baking Company’s seasonal pie topped with vanilla custard. Five percent of all sales of Pie Oh My will be donated to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a nonprofit in Ashford, Conn., that helps children and their families suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses.
The chain also has locations in Westport and New Haven, as well as throughout New York City.
