A weakened and farther east Tropical Storm Jose has led to the cancellation of all tropical storm watches in Connecticut.

The National Weather Service canceled all the watches at 11 a.m,. Tuesday and lowered the estimates for peak wind gusts.

Southeastern Connecticut, which faced gusts of up to 40 mph, now has a forecast of wind speeds to between 17 and 25 mph.

Wind and rain

Winds between 20 to 24 mph are forecast for Fairfield County on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Maximum gusts expected include 34 mph for Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and New Haven; 23 mph for Greenwich and 27 mph in Danbury and Torrington.

Rainfall total forecasts are .18 of an inch for Greenwich and Danbury; .26 of an inch for Bridgeport and the Naugatuck Valley and .34 of an inch in New Haven. Areas in eastern Connecticut along the shoreline will get between .60 of an inch in Clinton and .87 of an inch in New London.

Northwest Connecticut communities like New Milford, Kent and Torrington will only have light showers.

Long Island Sound

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for minor flooding for southern Fairfield County.

High tides are expected to be one and one-half feet above normal on Tuesday and Wednesday.

High tides are 11 a.m. on Tuesday, shortly after midnight on Wednesday and after noon on Wednesday.

A small craft advisory for western Long Island Sound is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday. North winds will be between 15 and 25 knots with gusts up to 30 knots.

Conditions in the eastern Long Island Sound get rougher with a stronger winds and waves up to seven feet near The Race.

Tonight: Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers. Breezy with lows in the mid 60s.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers, mainly in the morning. Breezy with highs in the mid 70s.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the mid 60s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Thursday: Sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. North winds around 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s.
