Accomplishment: Won his first New England championship with a time of 16:12 on Saturday at Twin Brook Recreation Center in Cumberland, Maine.

FEMALE

Name: Verity Abel

School: Staples

Grade: Junior

Sport: Swimming

Accomplishment: Won the 200 and 500 freestyle events at the FCIAC championships on Nov. 6 at Greenwich High School. Abel finished the 200 in 1:52.54 and the 500 in 5:00.46.
