Although the Weston gymnastics team fell short on the scoreboard, the majority of its members are improving.

Weston dropped to 4-4 while scoring 110.8 points in losing to Nonnewaug (139.15) and host Pomperaug (136.8) Tuesday. However, the 110.8 is the Lady Trojans' highest point total without Mary Corcoran, who is out with an injury.

Floor exercise was Weston's best event where it scored a 33.15. The Lady Trojans also did well on vault (29.45) and the balance beam (28.5) and did much better on the uneven bars (19.7) than they did in previous years.

Senior captain Alexis Gandal led Weston with an all-around score of 28.35 and sophomore Keturah Sarno (27.95) wasn't far behind. Gandal was strong on floor (8.3), vault (7.65) and beam (7.3), while Sarno did well on floor (8.35) and led the team on vault (7.9) and bars (7.5).

Sophomore Natalie Hassett led the Lady Trojans on floor (8.5) and bars (7.4) and was respectable on beam (6.7). Senior captain Maddie Ratte was consistent on floor (8.0), vault (7.3) and beam (7.0), and senior captain Lena Romaldini showed how far she has come on floor (7.75) and vault (6.6).
