Staples roundup: Brackett helps girls volleyball improve to 5-0

Amelia Brackett recorded nine aces and 10 kills as Staples High's girls volleyball team improved to 5-0 with a sweep of visiting Fairfield Warde on Monday.

Lauren Mushro added three aces and 13 kills and Arianna Sherman chipped in 21 assists for the Wreckers, who won 25-16, 25-11, 26-24. Val Kirsch led the team in digs with six.

Staples will visit Greenwich on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match.

BOYS SOCCER

Staples defeated Bridgeport Central 1-0 on Monday at Loeffler Field on a second-half goal by Andrew Puchala.

Noah Schwaeber made two saves in goal to earn the shutout for the Wreckers.

The Wreckers (4-1-1) will play at Wilton on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
