Hurricane Sandy alters high school sports schedule

The following changes to the high school sports schedule have been made due to Hurricane Sandy:
-The Staples girls soccer match against Trinity Catholic--previously scheduled for Monday--has been rescheduled for Nov. 6 at Loeffler Field.
-The quarterfinals of the FCIAC girls volleyball tournament have been moved to Nov. 6. No. 6 Staples will play at No. 3 Stamford at 4 p.m.. The semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, with the two winners declared co-champions.
-The FCIAC girls swimming finals have been moved to Nov. 6 at Greenwich High School (time to be announced). The FCIAC swimming trials have been canceled. The diving finals are rescheduled for Nov. 6 at Westhill High School.
-The Staples football game at Fairfield Warde--previously scheduled for Friday--has been rescheduled for Nov. 8 at Warde at 6 p.m..
-The Week 9 FCIAC football games have been rescheduled for Nov. 13.
-The CIAC has also revised its schedule for the fall tournaments. Boys and girls soccer, field hockey and girls volleyball were originally scheduled to begin on Nov. 5, but now the final day for regular season games to count will be Nov. 6. With the revised scheduled, tournament competition will begin Nov. 8. The finals for girls volleyball and field hockey have been pushed back to the weekend of Nov. 16-17. Finals for boys and girls soccer has been moved to the weekend of Nov. 23-24.
-The Weston football game against Masuk--previously scheduled for Saturday--has been rescheduled for Nov. 15 at Masuk at 7 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Weston.
