GFA (1-4) earned its first win of the season by defeating The Harvey School 5-2. Senior pitcher Jeremy Platt (Westport) threw six innings in the victory. In GFA's next game, an 11-5 loss to St. Luke's April 11, six of St. Luke's runs were unearned. The Dragons had nine hits, including three by senior Ben Enelow.
The Dragons (1-3) fell 18-1 to Cheshire Academy April 7 and 15-0 to King April 10.
GFA (2-0) began its season with two wins: A 7-0 victory over Wooster April 9 and a 7-0 victory against St. Luke's April 10. Against Wooster, senior captain Kyle Wolfe and sophomore Cole Rummelsburg led the team with straight set singles victories, while junior Scott Brown and freshman William Wappler led the doubles teams by winning at No. 1.
GFA (0-2) fell to 0-2 with tough losses to Hopkins 6-1 April 9 and Hotchkiss 8-1 April 12. Against Hopkins School, GFA's lone win came at No. 1 doubles, with Avery Wolfe and Georgie Garner (Westport) sweeping their match 6-0, 6-0. Against Hotchkiss, GFA again came away with just one win, this time at No. 2 singles, where eighth grader Devon Wolfe won 6-3, 6-1.
The Dragons (4-1) used an offensive explosion to defeat Hopkins 18-9 April 9. Campbell Goldsmith scored a game and career high seven goals. The Dragons defense held Hopkins scoreless the last 10 minutes of the game to seal the win. Sophomore Lucy Webb recorded seven saves.
GFA made it three straight wins with a 14-6 win over Miss Porters April 12. The Dragons defense, led by Cole Vanacore, Caroline Rintoul, Charlotte Forfang and Ingrid Backe, yielded just one goal in the first half. Goldsmith and freshman Kate Paliotta (Westport) each contributed four goals.
The Dragons (2-3) defeated The Wooster School 17-2 April 10. Dominating at the face off, Sean Kozdeba, Sam Hodge and Brendan Bieder combined to win 17 of 23 faceoffs. Leading GFA's scoring was senior Max Tarika with four goals.
GFA (2-3) defeated Brunswick (JV) 5-4 April 7, lost to King 6-3 April 9 and beat Hamden Hall 7-2 April 11. Against Brunswick, freshman Dustin Cook (Westport) shot a two over par 38 to lead all scorers. Senior captain Jack Wood defeated his opponent by two strokes to earn GFA's third point. Senior captain Mark Whittaker, junior Kevin Wong, sophomore Alex McKenna, and freshman Curtis Tauk (Westport) all combined to earn GFA's final two points with low team aggregate.
Against King, GFA won three head-to-head contests, but lost 6-3. Freshman Dustin Cook (Westport), sophomore Alex McKenna, and sophomore Lauren Telesz each won their head-to-head matches.
Against Hamden Hall, Cook led all GFA scorers, despite not winning his match. Whittaker and Wood both won, as did Wong, McKenna and Tauck.
