GFA (1-4) fell to King 45-42 Dec. 16 before going 1-1 in a tournament at St. Luke's with Montfort Academy (46-29) and St. Luke's (51-55).
Against King, the Dragons rallied from a 10-point second half deficit. Down two points with 12 seconds left and King in possession, GFA's Lexi Kimball created a turnover and hit a pair of free throws to tie the game.
The Vikings then stunned the Dragons with a shot from half court as time expired to claim the victory. Caroline Kruk and Lisa Johnson combined for 20 points and 18 rebounds for GFA, while Kimball finished the night with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Kimball (21 points) Daly Naughton (17) led the offensive charge as the Dragons claimed their first win of the season with a 46-29 win over Montfort (N.Y.) despite leading by just one at the half.
Against St. Luke's, Kimball led all scorers with 24 points, as well as six steals and four blocks. Naughton had her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while Kruk put in 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
GFA (5-0) extended its winning streak dating back to last year to 23 games -- a school record -- with a trio of wins.
The Dragons then competed in the Farroba Classic, a tournament between NEPSAC contenders that was held in Providence Dec. 20-21. GFA claimed the tournament with wins over Hebron School (93-45) and the Wheeler School (68-50).
Baines was named the Farroba Classic Tournament MVP and Tate made the All-Tournament team. Bieder drew the defensive assignment of guarding all three teams' best players.
GFA (1-3) defeated King 7-0 and lost 0-7 to Hopkins.
