Boys Soccer

GFA (9-2-1) cruised to a 8-3 win over Watkinson Oct. 16. Sophomore Ben Strait fired a hat trick as the Dragons built a 4-0 halftime lead and never looked back.

The Dragons rallied from a three-goal second half deficit to claim a 3-3 tie against King Oct. 19. After a scoreless first half, the Vikings stormed out to a 3-0 lead before GFA responded. Brendan Bieder scored two goals in the comeback to extend the Dragon's unbeaten run to three games.

Girls Soccer

GFA (5-6-1) dropped a 1-0 decision against Greenwich Academy Oct. 17.

The Dragons snapped their three-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over King Oct. 19.

Tia Carson scored twice for GFA, which led 2-0 at the half. King broke up the shutout with a penalty kick in the second half, but senior goalie Caroline Kruk was solid in net with 17 saves.

Field Hockey

The Dragons rallied for a 5-3 win over Westover Oct. 16. Trailing 3-1 with just seven minutes left on the clock, freshman Kate Paliotta, who had a hat trick, tied the game with two quick goals. Tatiana Crawford scored the game winning goal with 1:30 remaining while Maggie Kelly added an insurance goal at the buzzer.

On Oct. 19, the Dragons defeated King 1-0 at Homecoming. GFA's offense dominated the game, but King's goalie made 25 saves. Paliotta scored her 15th goal of the season off a penalty corner for the game's lone goal.

Volleyball

GFA dropped a pair of games, falling to Canterbury 3-0 (23-25, 24-26, 8-25) Oct. 16 and King 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 20-25, and 14-18) Oct. 19.

Girls Cross Country

At an FAA meet at Rye Nature Preserve leading runner, GFA sophomore Maggie Boudreau ran a 21:36, which was two full minutes faster than any prior time this season. Liza Rebold ran the race in 23:41, almost three minutes cut off from past times this season.

Boys Cross Country

GFA Senior captain Andrew McCarthy led the Dragons ran a sub-18 5k at the Rye Nature Preserve. Mark Whittaker ran a sub-19 5k for the first time in his four seasons and Robert Marcus ran his race in 20:35, almost a full six minutes faster than his first 5k of the season.
