A doubles tennis tournament to benefit a dental-care program for underprivileged children in upstate New York is planned Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Weston Racquet Club.

A round-robin, mixed-doubles format with rotating partners is planned, organizers said. Men's and women's champions will be determined by total games won.

Proceeds will benefit the PRASAD Childen's Dental Health Program, organizers said. The charity provides dental care to needy children and to pregnant women and infants in New York's Sullivan and Ulster counties, according to its website.

Registration and warmups are scheduled at 1:30 p.m., with play to begin at 2 p.m. A reception and awards presentation will follow at 6 p.m., sponsors said in a news release.

The registration fee is $95 per person, and the tournament is planned rain or shine, according to the release. Players may enter as pairs or single entrants.

Men's and women's winners each will receive a weekend for two at the Ocean House in Watch Hill, R.I., and all participants will receive a gift, organizers said.

The event is being orgnized by Westonites Karen and Brandon Gillespie, Martin and Kassandra Strasmore and Stephanie Portner.
