DANBURY -- The Abbott Tech football team achieved the first three-game winning streak in program history on Saturday afternoon.

The Wolverines defeated Platt Tech 12-7, pushing their season record to 5-4.

Defense was the key to Abbott Tech's success. The Wolverines had three interceptions and forced three fumbles, two of which came at crucial moments in the fourth quarter.

"It starts with being physical," said Wolverine coach, Chris Mascolo. "When we aren't physical, we're not very good. When we play physical team defense, we win football games."

Abbott Tech struck first on senior quarterback Greg Ramos' 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

The Wolverines never looked back.

In the second quarter, Ramos launched a 35-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Dustin Belmonte.

Ramos finished with 46 rushing yards and 37 passing yards with only two pass attempts.

Platt Tech got on the board in the third quarter on junior quarterback Anton Graham's 11-yard touchdown run.

The Panthers were in position to take the lead with just over a minute to go in the fourth quarter.

As Graham stepped back to make his pass, a fumble was forced and was recovered by Wolverine captain Jojo Espinal.

Abbott Tech took a knee and ran out the clock to seal the win.

The Wolverines close out the regular season on Thanksgiving against 1-6 Wolcott Tech.

"We want to extend this win streak," said Mascolo. "These guys want to get six wins on the season and set the tone for Abbott Tech football for years to come."
