On the market: So new it doesn’t appear on GPS

WESTPORT — Westport has 332 town-designated roads that combine for an approximate total of 123 miles and another 66 miles of private roads. The town has recently added a new private road - Sylvan Farms Lane, on which there are three newly constructed houses, two currently on the market. The street is so new that it does not even appear yet on GPS systems or online maps. It is located off Sylvan Road North in the Old Hill neighborhood.
The modern shingle-style colonial houses at 4 and 6 Sylvan Farms Lane are similar in their appearance and amenities because they were constructed this year by the same HOBI award-winning Westport firm, SIR Development, but each house is unique and special in its own right.
Number 6 Sylvan Farms sits at the end of this short cul-de-sac on a level property of just a hair under one acre and 4 Sylvan Farms is next door on a one-acre level lot. Both houses have 15 rooms, six bedrooms, five full baths and two half baths. Both have more than 7,000 square feet of living space. Number 4 Sylvan Farms has a slight edge with 185 square feet more than Number 6. But Number 6 wins the “battle” of the fireplaces. It has four to the other house’s three.
Both houses have a generator, Thermopane windows, three-car attached garage, custom millwork, light stained oak floors, zoned gas heat, 10-foot ceilings on the first level, sprinkler system, and an outdoor kitchen/grilling area. Custom Circa Lighting illuminates both homes’ interiors. On both properties there are fieldstone walls and each house is topped with a wood shingle roof. It’s there that most of the similarities end and both houses start to stand out on their own.
The pale gray house with white trim at 6 Sylvan Farms Lane offers a modern take on classic shingle style. It sits on a property that is bordered by tall deciduous and evergreen trees, which combine to provide privacy screening. It has a covered front entrance and a three-paneled glass front door flanked by sidelights that opens into the two-story foyer. In the formal living room there is a fireplace and a tray ceiling, the deepest part of which is painted a medium gray which gives it more depth and visual appeal. The formal dining room also has a tray ceiling - this one painted in the more traditional white, and it has a featured wall of medium gray paneling. The family room has a coffered ceiling and fireplace with a patterned yellow brick firebox flanked by French doors to the patio. There is also a black paneled study.

This house has a covered front porch and glass-paneled French doors that open into the two-story foyer. The formal living room has a deep tray ceiling and marble fireplace. The tray ceiling in the formal dining room is adorned in a wallcovering with a subtle contemporary design. Look from a distance and it appears as light gray. Approach it and the pattern emerges.

The kitchen has a modern industrial design and it features a 60-inch Wolf professional eight-burner range with double ovens, marble countertops, a tray ceiling painted silver gray, elongated white ceramic subway tile backsplash, and two dishwashers.
