Life on the water comes with many gifts: Stunning views of sunrises and colorful skies of sunsets, recreational activities on the water, enjoying local wildlife and waterfowl, and leisurely walks along the nearby beach.

The Colonial-style, year-round beach house at 203 Hillspoint Road offers all that and more. The current owners call it "a kayaker's delight" and a birdwatcher's paradise. They can launch a kayak right from their property into Mill Pond. When not kayaking, the owners of this house can sit in the spacious family room or the wood deck off that room and take in the relaxing water views as it laps the stone wall just feet away. Despite its proximity to the water, this house was untouched by Superstorm Sandy.

Built in 2000, this 1,865-square-foot house sits on a property of one-tenth of an acre of prime beachside real estate. It is within easy walking distance of Old Mill Beach and not far from Longshore Club and Compo Beach. No need to drive for dinner out: Positano's restaurant is only steps away. So is Elvira's deli.

There is no garage but there is off-street parking available directly in front of the gray, wood shingle house. A paving stone driveway is lined in Belgian block and has room for two vehicles.

This peaceful waterfront retreat features privacy fencing, a gourmet kitchen, an open floor plan, and a private wood balcony in the master bedroom suite.

At the covered front entrance the door has a decorative beveled and leaded glass window, which is mirrored in the sidelights and transom. Off the foyer are a powder room and a home office with a wall of built-in bookshelves. The family room has a gas-fueled stone fireplace with a granite surround, mantle, and hearth, and two sets of French doors to the deck.

A two-tiered peninsula topped with a granite counter separates the kitchen from the family room. This peninsula doubles as food preparation space on one tier and a breakfast bar for casual meals and entertaining on the upper one. Features here include a dining area, Thermador five-burner range top, Viking Professional refrigerator, Miele dishwasher and GE Advantium double, wall-mounted ovens. Some of the cabinets have decorative glass-front doors.

On the second floor there are three bedrooms, two full baths and double-door laundry closet with a Whirlpool washer and Maytag dryer. The master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and French doors to the balcony looking out on Mill Pond. The master bath also has pond views, which can be enjoyed from the large, triangular, jetted tub. A decorative ceramic tile motif in the floor is repeated in the backsplash of the large walk-in steam shower.

The hallway bath on this floor is a good size and features 1950s-style glass cubes by the combination tub and shower. It also has plantation shutters.
