Renowned architect Jonathan Wagner designed the Modern Contemporary house at 39 Danbury Ave. in the Compo Beach area, infusing it with a European feel, but the finished house now has more of a subtle international flair.

Built in 2007, the house has German windows, Brazilian Ipe hardwood floors on the second level, Italian porcelain radiant heated tile floors on the main level, and antique hand-made Mexican and Moroccan light fixtures. It also contains some good old American practicality with its energy-efficient features. This is a geothermal house with solar panels that generate electricity.

Its proximity to Long Island Sound optimizes the solar features. The cedar and clapboard house is an easy walk to Compo Beach only a block or so away. Longshore Club Park is also within easy walking distance.

On the far side of the living room is a large family room that is really a flexible space. It could also be used as a den, media room or even a guest bedroom because it has its own full bath. There is also a door to the patio.

There are four bedrooms on the second floor, all en suite. The master bedroom has its own separate, private wing in which there is a vaulted ceiling. The bath has a deep soaking tub, walk-in shower, double porcelain sinks and water closet.
