Hearst Connecticut Newspapers surveys the latest new leases and other deals in southwestern Connecticut.
Zimmerman joins Goman+York
Westport resident Craig Zimmerman has joined Goman+York Property Advisors, an East Hartford-based commercial real estate firm, as senior vice president, Capital Markets. He brings 20 years of experience in project finance, leasing and asset-based lending in the real estate, energy and infrastructure sectors. Zimmerman was formerly director of Green Development Finance at Weston Solutions and head of banking and finance groups at Merrill Lynch, where he marketed the Zell Opportunity Fund. He also managed structured-lease financing at NationsBank and led the Global Lease Finance division at Fleet Capital. Zimmerman has arranged more than $10 billion of project- and tax-oriented financings.
Shipping firm takes space in Westport

Ridgebury Tankers, a deep-seas shipping company, has leased 2,695 square feet of Class A office space at 33 Riverside Ave. in Westport, relocating its headquarters from Ridgefield. The company recently raised $205 million to acquire 12 to 15 vessels in the next six months, including a fleet of mid-size Suezmax tankers, to carry refined products as well as crude oil. The company estimates that it will purchase 12 to 15 vessels in the next six months. Brett Sherman, senior vice president of Angel Commercial, a Fairfield-based commercial real estate brokerage firm, represented Ridgebury.
HK Group posts transactions
Westport-based HK Group announced a series of recent transactions including the sale of the 2,000-square-foot Pho Garden restaurant at 1620 Post Road East in Westport to Pane Bene, an Italian restaurant.
A lease of 4,100 square feet of retail space to JoyRide Cycle Studio, a spin studio, at 1200 Post Road East in Westport. Adam Klimek of Cushman & Wakefield represented the property.
An office lease of 830 square feet at 1869 Post Road East in Westport to Edward Jones.
The sale of a 2,000-square-foot building at 33 Miller St. in Fairfield for $725,000 to Dr. Alfred Sofer, a plastic surgeon. Tommy Febbraio and Vince Byrne of Coldwell Banker Commercial represented the seller.
With Kerry Wood of HK Group, a lease of 700 square feet of retail space at 135 Connecticut Ave., in Norwalk to Zacarias Lara for a barbershop.
A lease of 1,400 square feet of retail space at 1139 Post Road in Fairfield to First Ray for a Kumon Learning Center.
With Kerry Wood of HK Group, a lease of 1,350 square feet of office space at 105 Rowayton Ave., in Rowaytown, to Turnstone Capital Management.
CenturyLink relocates sales office to Norwalk
Louisiana-based CenturyLink, the nation's third-largest telecommunications company, will relocate its regional sales office from Stamford to a 5,717-square-foot space at MerrittView in Norwalk, a 260,000-square-foot building owned by Malkin Properties. Malkin Construction will build out the seventh-floor space, which is under lease through 2018. CenturyLink provides broadband, voice, wireless and managed services to consumers and businesses, and also is a global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprise customers.
