The French Provincial-inspired brick house at 20 Crooked Mile Road brings the outdoors inside, from its relaxing views of backyard songbirds at the two large double-hung windows in the eat-in section of the kitchen to the indoor in-ground swimming pool.

Not many people can enjoy their pools year-round. The owners of this house can lounge poolside or swim laps every day, even while watching snow falling from the three walls of glass.

The long paved driveway is punctuated by two red brick pillars each topped with a lantern. The pillars mirror the red brick veneer exterior of the 4,825-square-foot house.

It was built in 1965 and has double front doors that open to a wide foyer, which has a marble floor. The living room has the first of the home's two fireplaces. It has a marble surround and a wood mantle with dentil molding. A recessed area of this room features a large bay/bow window, which is flanked by double-hung windows.

The formal dining room has a floor-to-ceiling mirrored wall. The kitchen features a white ceramic tile floor and a peninsula that separates the preparation side of the kitchen from the eat-in area. There are granite counters and a wall of cabinets. The soffit above the cabinets allows for displays of decorative cookware, baskets or other artistic items. Appliances include Frigidaire four-burner range top and refrigerator and a KitchenAid dishwasher.

Off the kitchen there is a mudroom, a full bath and a coat closet by the side door.

In the center back of the house is a good-size family room, part of which is sunken. The upper part of the room features a red brick wall and a fireplace with a raised hearth. The lower half of the room has a sliding door to the stone patio and grilling area that is visible from the kitchen eat-in area. The opposite wall also has a slider. This one leads to the kidney-shaped indoor swimming pool.

The pool area has a cathedral ceiling, a dressing room and a full bath. There is also a spiral staircase down to the full partially finished basement, which has a second access staircase on the other side of the house near the kitchen.

In addition to the family room, the pool area can also be accessed from the full bath in the master bedroom. There is yet another access point to the pool from a hallway full bath.

French doors separate the master bedroom from a private sitting area. The master also features three closets, including one walk-in. The master bath has a jetted tub, double vanity and a bidet.

On the second floor, which is really a large finished attic, there is one large bedroom with its own full bath. There is a second long room with two skylights. This floor has wall-to-wall carpeting.

The basement is sizable and its features include a laundry area, a room with windows which could be used as an office and a windowless room which could easily be converted into a wine cellar. Also on this lower level are several storage rooms, a sauna with a floor of circular blue ceramic tiles and a room with a mirrored wall for exercise, yoga or dance. The wall-to-wall carpeting is in a large checkerboard pattern of chocolate brown and white.
