SHELTON -- A West Haven man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the November robbery of the River Road Citgo station.

Anthony Simons, 44, was arrested on a warrant as he appeared in state Superior Court in Derby on another matter, police said. He was being held with bail set at $100,000, and was expected to be arraigned on first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny charges.

The holdup occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, when a man making a purchase leaned over the counter, displayed a knife and demanded money, police said.

No one was hurt and no customers were in the store at the time, police said.
