TRUMBULL -- A Target employee was arrested on a warrant Tuesday for allegedly shorting her register by an estimated $17,000 over the course of several months, according to Trumbull police.

Ginell Marie Baez, 25, of Bond Street in Bridgeport, was charged with one count of third-degree larceny, seven counts of fourth-degree larceny, three counts of fifth-degree larceny and five counts of six-degree larceny, police said.

Trumbull Police Officer Mark Smith, a spokesman for the department, said Baez was employed by Target at Westfield Trumbull mall as a "guest service team leader."

It was unclear how long the alleged cash thefts from the register at Target had been going on, but Smith said that "the investigation went back to July 2011 by store security."

Baez was released on $15,000 bond and was arraigned Tuesday at Superior Court in Bridgeport.
