Stand-up comic Hari Kondabolu performs in Oakland

Hari Kondabolu is a Brooklyn comic with strong ties to the Bay Area, currently co-hosting the podcast “Politically Re-Active,” with longtime friend and collaborator W. Kamau Bell.
Kondabolu headlines the Fox Theater in Oakland on Friday, Dec. 1, weeks after the release of his documentary “The Problem With Apu,” which interviews comics including Aziz Ansari and Russell Peters, and covers Kondabolu’s complicated relationship with the Indian American Kwik-E-Mart proprietor from “The Simpsons.”
As can be heard on Kondabolu’s 2014 comedy album “Waiting for 2042” (and his frequent appearances on public radio), the comic has an energetic approach toward politics and social commentary, with the humorous insights of someone who has consumed a few decades worth of popular culture.
