FIFA's disciplinary code currently has a five-game minimum ban for racist abuse but it only applies for players in international competitions.

NICE, France (AP) — Albert Montanes of Spain reached the Nice Open final by beating French wild-card entry Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 Friday. Montanes will play for the title Saturday against Pablo Andujar of Spain or Gael Monfils of France. He had 11 aces and closed the semifinal with a backhand return winner. The Nice Open is a tuneup for the French Open, which starts Sunday.

LONDON (AP) — Denis Oswald declared his candidacy for IOC president Friday, becoming the fifth member and second European to enter the race to succeed Jacques Rogge. Carrion, chairman of the IOC finance commission, and Wu, president of the international amateur boxing association, made their bids earlier this week. Oswald gained standing in the IOC as chairman of the coordination commission for the 2004 Athens Olympics and 2012 London Games, a position that required oversight of all preparations.

LONDON (AP) — Tottenham winger Andros Townsend was charged by the English Football Association on Friday with misconduct over breaches of its betting regulations. Townsend spent the second half of last season on loan at Tottenham's Premier League rival Queens Park Rangers, which was relegated to the second tier.

MILAN (AP) — Inter Milan reportedly fired coach Andrea Stramaccioni on Friday, five days after concluding Serie A with a highly disappointing ninth-place finish. Stramaccioni was informed of the decision, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport and the ANSA news agency, although Inter did not immediately announce the move.
