Save Westport Now is an independent minority political party that has worked on behalf of town residents for three decades. We remain steadfast in our mission to protect residential neighborhoods and prevent over-commercialization.
We do more than support candidates for P&Z. We attend meetings and hearings of boards and commissions year round to monitor what the town does with our valuable and scarce resources and to ensure existing regulations are upheld.
We differentiate ourselves by demanding transparency and promoting public benefit over private gain. Sometimes, we weigh in on decisions that will have a lasting impact on the streetscape -- as we did recently in our letter of support regarding moving the Kemper Gunn house.
SWN believes our citizens deserve candidates who will maintain our town character and who will put the interests of residents ahead of developers who want growth at any cost.
The people of Westport can vote for these candidates with confidence.
Save Westport Now is non-partisan. This year, we are endorsing the same candidates as the Democrats. Previously, SWN helped Republicans gain their majority -- and with their allotted seats currently filled -- we have a special call to Republicans to support our ticket.
Whether you are a Republican, Democrat, or unaffiliated voter, I urge you to cast your ballot for Alan Hodge, Andra Vebell, and David Lessing on the Save Westport Now Line "C."
Sidney Kramer is chairman of Save Westport Now.
