Toyota of Westport went the extra mile

I recently bought a used car at Toyota of Westport. Purchasing an automobile is not high on my list of fun things to do, but dealing with the folks there was pure pleasure. Not only did I get a fair price on my old car and a good deal on the one I traded it for, but from manager Rocco Esposito on down, everyone I met went the extra mile.

They gave me rides to and from my house. They offered me food. They didn't even charge me for fixing a scraped bumper that I discovered after I bought the car.

Why am I taking the trouble to write a letter about this? Because in the past, Toyota of Westport has had, shall I say, a less-than-stellar reputation. I myself went to Greenwich Toyota in 2006 to purchase my old car rather than dealing with the people in Westport. But the dealership is now under new management, and that makes all the difference.

Don't take my word for it. The next time you're in the market for a car, check it out yourself. I'm sure my saleswoman, Lucy Evans, or any of the other sales people there, would be happy to help you.

Support Baron's South proposal

The Human Services Commission fully supports the plan for senior living on Baron's South which is being proposed by Gordon Joseloff and Shelly Kassen.

The 2007 Town Plan noted that "Westport should continue efforts to help seniors who may not want or need large single-family houses to remain in Westport." We feel that this proposal fulfills the objective outlined in the Town Plan.

The proposal includes a skilled nursing facility with professional care which is needed in our community. Currently, residents travel to obtain good care. We would like to create this center in Westport so that residents can remain in town near their support systems.

Westport has many seniors who have contributed countless hours of service to the town, often as volunteers. We would like to make it possible for them to remain in town near family and friends. Recently developed programs like ITN and LINKS will help seniors with transportation and other needs as they grow older. The Center for Senior Activities located on the same campus will provide some meals, activities and classes. By using town owned land, the facility can offer affordable housing (another Town Plan objective) to a group that we want to keep in Westport.

On behalf of the Human Services Commission, I urge you to support this proposal.

Lynn Graham Goldberg,

Chairman,

Human Services Commission,

Westport
