Two issues recently have received townwide attention: the Westport town bus and the future of the Kemper Gunn House.

As an RTM member in District 6, I remember receiving calls from residents seeking help restoring funds for the town bus. Their goal was to ask the RTM to overturn the Finance Commission's decision to reduce spending, thus limiting services. I was in favor of this reinstatement, and suggested they seek a quorum and start a petition. This resulted in a groundswell of support and the RTM's vote restoring proper funding. This may not have been the case if many didn't step up and voice opinions.

Enter The Kemper Gunn House

The house is a good example of Queen Anne-style structure (circa 1885). It needs renovation and relocation. Many have come forward in support of moving the house after the Planning and Zoning Commission voted down such a proposal.

I support relocation; have received a petition, countless emails, and phone calls from residents who support saving the house from demolition. a special RTM meeting at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 will examine this issue.

Come join us in the town hall auditorium.
