On behalf of the Westport Historical Society's 2010 Holiday House Tour and Twilight Soirée, the after-party and silent auction, we are writing to thank those who made this 24th annual kickoff to Westport's holiday season such a terrific success. The crisp blue skies on Sunday morning, Dec. 5, brought a surge of ticket buyers from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and beyond to Westport to enjoy five festively decorated homes plus historic Adams Academy - all for the benefit of the not-for-profit historical society.
Thanks must begin with our year-round sponsors: BNY Wealth Management, the Betty & Ralph Sheffer Foundation, TD Bank, Berchem, Moses & Devlin, Weichert Capital Properties & Estates, Kowalsky Brothers, the Adolph Schnurmacher Foundation and our House Tour sponsors: Connecticut Cottages & Gardens, Duc Interiors, Cohen & Wolf, P.C Attorneys at Law, Venture Photography, Patricia M. Miller Residential Design,Advanced Home Audio Systems, Catamount Wealth Management, DRJ Builders, Inc., Ellen Mahony, M.D., Encon, Peters-Hamlin Law Firm, Resnick Investment Advisors, Wells Fargo Advisors-Howard Matson. Additional support comes from Catherine C. Cleare Interiors and William Raveis Realty.
Next, special thanks to the homeowners who graciously opened their homes and entrusted them to our docents for the Tour and Twilight Soirée: Mark Fagan and Tricia Wentworth, Catherine Cleare and Steve Folb, Dick and Carol Brezovec, Anandi and Tom Wimmer, the Dicksteins and Kristan Peters-Hamlin and Geoff Hamlin.
Led by the house captains Sue Kirby, Deborah Gordon, Dorothy Packer, Mindy Wolkstein, Deborah Kulback, Hope Trowbridge and Richard St. Francis, about 80 docent volunteers, including contingents from Weichert, Realtors and the Westport Woman's Club, did a marvelous job greeting visitors, distributing shoe bags and presenting the interiors, room-by-room.
A huge round of applause from Westport Historical Society president and 2010 Holiday House Tour & Twilight Soirée chair and from Executive Director, Susan Gold, to them and to our tireless committee, toiling behind the scenes, including Joni Andrews, Susan & Dutch Wynkoop, Mary Lee Clayton, Totney Benson, Miggs Burroughs, Larry Untermeyer, Margaet LeBedis, Catherine Cleare, Dave Matlow, Maggie Feczko, Lorraine Feliciano, Dorothy Robertshaw, Deborah Herbertson, Barbara Brauner, Mimi Burroughs, Fran Thomas, Anne Levine, Rick Benson, Ed Gerber and Bill Chase. Without you, this event simply would not have happened.
We also must salute the work of the interior designers and stylists for the homes Soirée, including Catherine C. Cleare Interiors, plus tabletops by LCR-Westport, Crate & Barrel, Pierre Deux and the floral designers, Deborah Herbertson, Gilbertie's Herb Gardens.
Warm thanks to Fountainhead Wines for our Twilight Soirée wine tasting, and to violinist, Gabriela Stastny, and to our contributing caterers -- Justehorsdoeuvres.com, Dunville's, Oscar's Delicatessen, Garelick & Herbs, In Good Taste, Matsu Sushi, DaPietro's, Rizzuto's, Lindt Chocolates, Roly-Poly, Great Cakes and, for water, Bob Vadas.
