About these op-eds
The Westport News invited the two candidates for first selectman to submit op-ed pieces making their cases directly to voters for election of their first selectman/second selectman tickets.
The candidates were allowed up to, but not more than 850 words to deliver whatever message they chose. Both candidates submitted pieces within that limit.
The pieces have been edited only for spelling, grammar, punctuation and journalistic style (such as capitalization, use of numerals versus spelling out numbers, etc.).
The two candidates for probate judge of the Westport/Weston District were invited to submit op-ed pieces of up to, but not more than 350 words to deliver whatever message they chose. Both submitted pieces within that limit. The pieces were edited only for the same things as the first selectman candidates' pieces.
The lone Board of Education op-ed on this page was inadvertently omitted from the Oct. 18 edition. School board candidates were invited to submit up to 300 words, and they were edited similarly to the others.
