The remains of Civil War soldiers lie buried at the Soldiers' National Cemetery on July 2, 2013 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on the 150th anniversary of the historic battle. Thousands of Civil War soldiers are buried at the site, where, months later, Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address. The Union victory, which took place July 1-3, 1863, is widely considered the turning point in the American Civil War. Federal and Confederate armies suffered a combined total of up to 51,000 casualties over three days, the highest number of any battle in the four-year war.
