Crash shuts westbound US 290 near Antoine

A fatal traffic crash forced officials to temporarily shut down portions of U.S. 290 in northwest Houston early Tuesday.

The two-vehicle wreck happened about 3 a.m. on the westbound Northwest Freeway near Antoine, according to the Houston Police Department.

Houston TranStar showed the wreck cleared at 8:49 a.m.

Few details were released about the crash. Investigators were trying to piece together what led to the wreck.

The crash forced officials to temporarily block the freeway while investigators and emergency crews cleared the area.

More details will be reported as the story develops.
