Police have released more details about a drive-by shooting that left a 22-year-old man dead Monday night at an apartment complex in southwest Houston.

Lazaro Rivas-Opico died in the shooting that happened about 9 p.m. at Oaks of Bissonnet Apartments at 7003 Bissonnet, according to the Houston Police Department.

Rivas-Opico died at the scene.

Police said officers were dispatched to the complex on an emergency call about a shooting. When they arrived, they found Rivas-Opico dead. He had been shot more than once.

Police said witnesses told investigators they saw a possible suspect leaving the complex in a dark-colored sedan immediately after the gunfire. Early reports indicated Rivas-Optico was among a group of men about to play soccer when the car drove by and someone inside opened fire. Police said investigators could not confirm if the victim was with other men about to play soccer.

Police so far have no motive in the case.
