Police were searching for two suspects after one of them opened fire on officers following a brief car chase early Friday morning in northwest Houston.

The shooting happened occurred about 12:30 a.m., at 8600 Rayson, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said patrol officers attempted to stop a tan Chevrolet Suburban for a traffic violation, but the driver refused to pull over.

The officer followed the suspects. The SUV veered from the road a short time later and the suspects jumped out and ran away. As they ran, one of the suspects turned around and fired toward the officers. The officers were not wounded.

Police said the officers did not return fire.

The suspects fled. No description of the men was available.

Anyone with information about the case or suspects' identities is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713 308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713 222-TIPS.
