A middle school was briefly placed on lock down Monday morning for police activity in a nearby neighborhood in east Houston.

The lockdown began about 11:30 a.m. at McReynolds Middle School at 5910 Market near Zindler, according officials with the Houston Independent School District. The lockdown was lifted about 30 minutes later. Normal school activities were not interrupted.

The lockdown was a precaution as police searched for person in the area. Officials said no students or staff at the school were connected to the search.

Some SWAT members as well as a K-9 were called to 5500 Sonora because one or more people in a vehicle refused to stop for officers, according to the Houston Police Department. Police said the scene was cleared about noon and no one was taken into custody.

No other details about the police activity or the vehicle were available.
