A man died and a woman was critically injured but their small child appeared only slightly hurt after their vehicle flipped over near Conroe early Monday morning.

The wreck happened about 1:45 a.m. on Old Houston Road near Stevenson Drive, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Troopers said the man died at the scene. The woman and the child were rushed to Memorial Herman-The Woodlands. The woman was in critical condition.

Investigators were still trying piece together what happened. However, they said the vehicle veered from the road, hit a culvert and flipped. The man was trapped inside the vehicle. The woman was tossed out. When paramedics and police arrived, officials said, the child – possibly 3 to 4 years old – was walking near the crumpled vehicle.

More details will be reported as the story develops.
